Australia's global brand remains 9th in the world

Australian businesses co-branding with Australia’s Nation Brand can benefit from the power of a global Top 10 brand when taking their exports to the world.

As announced on 29 October 2024, Australia has retained its position in global rankings as 9 out of 50 nations in the annual Anholt Nation Brands Index for the second consecutive year. Australia rose to 9th position in the 2023 rankings, from 10th in 2022.

The Anholt Nation Brands Index measures the global standing of 50 nations according to six categories: People, Governance, Exports, Culture, Tourism and Immigration & Investment.

Australia ranks an impressive 3rd on the strength of its people and saw an increase to 5th position for Governance and 9th for Tourism, compared to 2023 results.

Australia also ranks 7th  on immigration and investment, 9th for culture and 11th on exports. Australia is perceived as valuing equality in society and science and technology, which drive perceptions about whether people are willing to invest in Australian businesses.

Austrade’s Simplified Trade, Marketing and Communications General Manager, Jessica Hamilton, said she was thrilled that Australia had sustained 9th position over two consecutive years.

“Maintaining our position as 9th in the world highlights the stability and strength of Australia’s Nation Brand and cements Australia’s reputation as a compelling and reliable country for trade and investment. The research shows that the appeal our people, innovative business practices, and exceptional science and technology capabilities, which have been at the forefront of our move to net zero and the green economy, underpin perceptions of Australia as a great place to do business”
